Contemporary dance is a dance style that emerged in the mid-20th century as a response to the limitations of classical ballet and modern dance.
It is characterized by its fluid, flowing movements and its emphasis on personal expression and emotions. It often incorporates floor work, turns, leaps, and asymmetrical shapes, and allows for a wide range of movements and styles. Unlike classical ballet, there are no strict rules for the body placement and movements in contemporary dance, and dancers have more freedom to express themselves through movement.
Contemporary dance is a popular style of dance for both recreational and professional dancers, and is often performed in concert dance, theater, and film productions.
Our school offers contemporary dance classes for different age groups, including children, teenagers, and adults. This allows students to learn and practice contemporary dance techniques and choreography at a level that is appropriate for their age and skill level.
For example, classes for young children may focus on building basic dance skills, coordination, and musicality, while classes for teenagers may delve deeper into the style and technique of contemporary dance. Adult classes may have a more relaxed atmosphere and may include a focus on fitness and self-expression through dance.

Contemporary Dance competitions

Our school participates in local dance competitions and to international dance contests.

Contemporary dance competitions are events where dancers showcase their skills and perform contemporary dance pieces in front of an audience and a panel of judges. These competitions can be a great opportunity for dancers to showcase their talents, receive feedback from professionals, and gain recognition in the dance community.

Participating in contemporary dance competitions can be a challenging yet rewarding experience for our students. It can help them improve their skills, gain confidence and network with other dancers and industry professionals.

Although we support the participation in competitions, we focus more on technique and learning. If students are not ready or fully prepared and confident for a dance competition, then we do not suggest their participation.
